“There is a time when one must decide either to risk everything to fulfill one's dreams or sit for the rest of one's life in the backyard.”
Earl Nightingale
The plan
Life is beautiful, and there's so much of it left.
I think most of the good stuff is small. Snow piling up outside the window. A long run that ends at the lake. An hour gone, just watching the fish drift around their tank. The more I slow down and notice it, the more of it there seems to be.
So I follow what feels alive. I moved to the Upper Peninsula knowing no one, and fell for the winters, the saunas, and the ice baths in Lake Superior. I left an office for a Level I trauma center. I finished an Ironman 70.3, and once freedived 80 feet just to chase a rock that looked cool. Every one of those started with saying yes.
Wherever I go next, I hope it feels the same. Somewhere I'm still learning, still curious, and still a little amazed by how good an ordinary day can be.
